Norwegian Air Argentina (Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery) has signed an agreement to open its first Argentine base in Córdoba International. According to a statement issued following the signing of an agreement with the Cordoba regional government, the Norwegian (Oslo Gardermoen) unit will plough up to USD200 million into the facility through 2020 and will also create 100 new jobs.

No further details concerning the nascent budget carrier's plans for the base were disclosed although, according to La Nacion, it is also considering establishing other bases in each of Mendoza International, Jujuy, Salta, Neuquén and Santa Fe Sauce Viejo.

As previously reported, despite having secured its AOC earlier this year, Norwegian Air Argentina will only commence revenue flights during the last quarter of this year using a fleet of B737-800s.
